i get asked a lot of questions as a electrical instructor at a training class in the NJ/NYC area this is 1 i got this weekend

What is the best thing you can think of for a new guy starting out in the electrical contracting business

my reply

i think the biggest thing is not to take a job/contract that will put you out of business if you do not get paided. look you have worked very hard to get all of your electrical permits, license, federal id and all the other stuff you need and the time you but in is very large. do not forget the cash you have in it to!

do you want to put all of this in someone who you just met waving a contract with no payment bond with your all you cash? i do not think i can! i do not want a chance that the years i worked to get to this point can all go away on someone else going out of business.
